The Growth Company's (GC) employment business unit has an exciting opportunity for an ESOL (English as a second language) Tutor working on our Refugee Employment Programme in Yorkshire & Humber.
GC is a fast-growing, purpose-based social enterprise and, as part of our mission for positive change, we deliver services for the Home Office, working with refugees across Yorkshire & Humber.
Our services focus on supporting individuals holistically, ensuring they have access to all the support they need to progress and move forward into employment.
As an ESOL Tutor, you will plan, deliver and assess effective ESOL lessons to maximise learner progress and achievement.
We are looking for talented individuals who have language skills in Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, Urdu, Turkish, Dari, Kurdish, Kurdish Sorani, Swahili, Albanian, or other languages that would be beneficial in supporting refugees in the UK, but this is not essential.
Also, if you have personal experience of resettlement, we would be keen to hear from you (this is not essential).
Agile working options are available for this role.
Our roles will be predominantly based in the following locations:
Sheffield, Rotherham and across South Yorkshire. There will be a requirement to travel across the region when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessment in line with GC policy to inform a placement of learners on effective programmes of learning.
- Plan and deliver lessons that offer variety, pace and challenge to engage learners.
- Adopt inclusive strategies to ensure support and challenge for all, including learners with SEND (special educational needs), experience of trauma and other personal and social difficulties.
- Work with individuals and groups of learners to build resilience and develop positive learning skills.
- Assess learners' work in line with GC policy, using diagnostic and personalised feedback to drive ongoing progress toward examination.
- Track and monitor progress of learners.
- Manage own professional development to ensure ongoing effectiveness as a reflective practitioner.
- Deliver good and outstanding teaching and learning across a range of centres.
- Deliver online learning.
- Design and deliver programmes of ESOL learning that are workrelated and aligned to sectoral and employer needs.

- Knowledge of range of approaches to teaching and learning.
- Motivate disengaged learners and to plan engaging, inclusive lessons.
- Ability to work effectively in collaboration with all colleagues and stakeholders.
- Genuine commitment to improving the prospects of young people and adult learners.
Skills required:
- Minimum Level 4 Teaching Qualification.
- ESOL/EFL specialist qualification.
- Ability to motivate learners and to plan engaging, inclusive lessons.
- Experience of teaching ESOL in challenging environments.
- Experience of planning, teaching, and assessment for progress.
Salary:
Up to £30,480.00 per year
