    Description

    We are currently seeking a Technician (Animal Care) to join The Bedford College Group at Shuttleworth College.


    As a Technician you play an important role in the success of our students through:

    • Contributing to the day to day running of the Zoological Education Centre.
    • Participating in the care of animals housed within the centre; to include farm, pet and exotic species (chelonian, snakes, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates and exotic mammals).
    • Preparing resources and provide support to teaching staff and students during practical session.
    • Maximising the recruitment of students and raising the profile of Shuttleworth through participating in marketing events and open days as required.
    • Attending technical updating courses regularly and maintain a record of CPD, promoting industry standards and required skill set.

    Ideal candidates will have;

    • Essential Experience of Animal Welfare/Husbandry
    • Knowledge of legislation relevant to the UK animal care industry
    • Evidence of high performance in previous roles/jobs
    • Experience of working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
    • Evidence of understanding how to promote equality and diversity within the job role

    Qualifications

    • Level 3 qualification in relevant subject (Animal Management / Animal Science)

    The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.

    • 37 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
