"This is a very happy and caring school. Leaders know pupils and their families well. One pupil, typical of many, described the school as 'home.'" (OFSTED FEB 2023)

Lilian Baylis Technology School is a mixed, 11-18, inner city school located in a new building at Vauxhall, London. We are a multicultural community school, which serves the local community, and we view this as one of our key strengths. We value the diversity of our school, and strive to ensure that our students feel represented, both at whole school level and within the curriculum.

We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic colleague to support the Team Leader of Maths as second in charge, leading on one Key Stage. The team has outstanding practitioners who are passionate about both the subject and the students. In addition to this, we have outstanding facilities for our students and teachers, including electronic whiteboards and visualisers in all rooms, as well as laptops for all staff. Teachers have a consistent room base for all their lessons at Key Stages 3 & 4, enabling them to make it a celebration for their subject and students. There is also great support for the science team in the delivery of the curriculum, including a full time Maths tutor who works with Years 12 & 13.

Our students are well behaved and ambitious, and they also value the school. All visitors to the school always comment on the calm and productive atmosphere of lessons. Our last OfSTED inspection stated that "behaviour is exceptional".

In addition, student progress at both GCSE and Key Stage 3 is very good across the school, and has been consistently so. In particular, we are highly effective at bridging the gaps between disadvantaged students and non-disadvantaged students. We run an extensive intervention programme, at Key Stage 3, which means students who have low prior attainment are able to work on "catching-up" with their peers.

The Maths team have created a highly effective curriculum across all key stages, that enables students to progress across all Key Stages, via a Mastery approach. This has resulted in excellent outcomes at both Key Stage 4 and 5, where students make progress and attainment that is well above national average. A Level Maths is also a very popular subject in our school 6th form, LBTS6. Those that study a Maths course at Key Stage 5 generally go on to study a related degree at university, including at Oxford and Cambridge.

This is an exciting opportunity for both a teacher who is looking for their first Leadership role, or an experienced 2ic of Maths who is looking for a fresh challenge. We offer a highly supportive and committed working environment within a culture of success. Our CPD provision is extensive and follows a research driven approach, which means that our teachers are at the leading edge of professional practice.
