About the Position
Hours Per Week: 40 hours per week. Monday
- Friday, Hours TBC
- Basis: Permanent and Full Time
The Media Team Leader will work within the Microbiology Laboratory at ALS Trowbridge.
Working as part of a team the Media Team Leader will be responsible for organising/ preparing media types for analysis for our team of Microbiologists and Laboratory Technicians.
The position will involve:
- Actively organise and manage the workload within the team to achieve the targets and goals of the business.
- To perform and organise the production of media within the timescales required and ensure that product availability is in line with method and the laboratory expectations.
- Monitor timekeeping, absence and behaviour, highlighting any concerns to the laboratory management team.
- Monitor training levels and records within the team to ensure sufficient resource and flexibility, providing training for staff as appropriate
- To notify facilities/ laboratory management if any stocks require replenishing.
- Ensure that the media preparation areas are kept clean and tidy. To remove waste frequently and ensure it is disposed of in the correct manner.
- To conform with all site quality management systems.
- To ensure that all records are completed concisely and accurately with paperwork written in clear handwriting.
- To perform work allocated without deviation from the documented methodology and / or procedure whilst maintaining high levels of quality control.
- To perform daily quality control checks and calibrations.
- To have an understanding of the companies safety requirements as set out in the safety manual.
- To develop and further improve the safety culture within the business unit.
- To report any incident or near miss to a senior member of the team.
- Any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Laboratory Manager.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
- The ability to work alone and as part of a team in a busy laboratory.
- A keen eye for detail and the ability to work on own initiative.
- Good communication skills, written and oral.
- Be able to accurately follow written procedures.
- Previous laboratory experience would be an advantage but full training will be provided.
