Description
One of our Civil Engineering clients requires a Carbon and Environment Advisor to become part of the Sustainability and Contract Teams who are responsible for delivering Highways Services across the county.
As the Carbon and Environment Advisor your duties & responsibilities will include:- Implement the requirements of the in-house Integrated Management System "MIMS" at a contract level to meet the requirements of ISO14001: 201
- Provide technical advice, direction, support, and assistance to key internal and external stakeholders to enable them to manage their environmental responsibilities and opportunities.
- Measure, monitor and champion carbon reductions and biodiversity improvements on the contract.
- Liaise with Clients and Regulators, and assist with obtaining legal consents, licenses, and exemptions.
- Monitor compliance with environmental consents, licenses, and exemptions.
- Produce reports, proposals, and presentations for all aspects of sustainability/carbon/environment, detailing findings, and recommendations in response to business needs.
- Support operational teams in the production of internal and external reports.
- Develop tools and ways of working to help operational teams deliver work more sustainably.
- Lead on environmental incident investigations, and support and advise on corrective actions.
- Assist in the development and delivery of suitable environmental and sustainability training for all contract staff.
- Carry out internal and external audits of Projects/Contracts and the supply chain.
- Measure, manage and reduce carbon associated with inhouse activities.
- Support the delivery of external certification such as CEEQUAL and Considerate Constructors where required.
- Represent and promote the Environment Enabling Function in internal and external meetings, workshops, management reviews and forums
Skills & Knowledge Requirements
- Demonstrable passion for the Environment and Sustainability, driving innovation and an ability and desire to positively influence and develop colleagues and stakeholders.
- Relevant experience in the highways / construction industry or environmental experience in a similar sector.
- Professional membership of IEMA (or equivalent) at the appropriate level and be committed to continuing your professional development with a willingness to learn and progress.
- Degree level in appropriate environmental discipline or relevant qualifications
- Competent IT and data analysis skills
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel
