As a Team Manager, you will be an integral part of supporting the engineering directorate to ensure designs are produced to the highest standard prior to submission. You will also engage key players within your geographic area, fostering relationships and facilitating strategies to deliver agreed outputs.

    We are looking for x4 Design Team Managers for both Northern Powergrid and Integrated Utility Services (part of the Northern Powergrid group). Your application will be taken into consideration for both roles.

    Key Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will:

    • Provide technical oversight for designs delivered by their team
    • Assist designers with unusual scenarios, ensuring decisions are in line with policy and regulatory requirements
    • Responsible for the implementation of changes to design policy and introduce new innovations
    • Work with other business units to develop/implement smart solutions to mitigate network constraints
    • Represent NPg (as necessary) on industry working groups
    • Proactively identify improvements to our engineering policy & business processes working closely with all business units
    • Ensure all designs meet appropriate policies & regulatory requirements ensuring commonality of approach across the design team
    • Developing staff in order to produce well rounded professional engineers
    • Maintain the well-being of a dispersed team of professional engineers

    Qualifications and Attributes

    Essential Qualifications and Experience

    • HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
    • Driving licence
    • Understanding of network design
    • Knowledge of electrical power networks including protection systems

    Desirable Qualifications

    • Degree in Engineering (Power systems)
    • Operational experience
    • A proven ability to manage engineering teams
