Carpenter - Hackney
An exciting new opportunity as a Carpenter has arose in the London Borough of Hackney.

This is a full-time position(36 hours).

£ £20.25.


Roles and Responsibilities:


Carry out to the highest standard all aspects of carpentry and joinery repairs and installations, encompassing Carcass, first / second fix and bespoke carpentry fittings.

Undertake a broad range of multi-skilled repair activities outside of the basic tradesuch as minor plumbing, glazing and finishing works to provide a comprehensive repair service.

Including but not limited to Force entry and make good.

  • Ease and adjust doors, and windows.
  • Repair / replace windows, doors, frames, garage doors etc.
  • Resin repairs to external joinery
  • Replacement joinery doors, frames, windows etc. build other items as required.
  • Replacement ironmongery, grab rails, fixtures and fittings and the like.
  • Staircases, flights, wall strings, treads, risers, handrails balustrade, posts etc.
  • Stud partitioning & dry lining to walls.
  • Repair / Replace floor & ceiling joists with associated metalwork.
  • Repair / replace floor boarding etc.
  • Ductwork and bath panels.
  • Kitchen base/floor units, worktops, pelmet, trims etc.
  • Carpentry and associated plumbing and finishing works to install complete sink base units
  • Skirting, architrave, beads, window boards, rails, mouldings, shelving and like
  • Manufacture formwork and cast minor concrete components sills / lintels etc.
  • Repair / replace roof joists, purlins, fascia, soffit and barge boards etc.
  • Fencing, gates and bin stores etc. hoarding to secure premises, boundary.
  • Fire prevention works including smoke seals, specialist glazing, clearance etc.
  • Undertake trusted assessor survey and report as requested
  • Decorations to newly fitted or repaired items of work

Other duties:


  • Deliver the highest level of workmanship in line with the current legislative standards, performance standards and in accordance with specifications and procedures.
  • Work at heights (with appropriate training) from e.g. scaffolding, ladders, cradles and mobile towers etc. and erect temporary work platforms.
  • Assess works, diagnose faults and decide on the best remedy or rectification. Accurately measure, quantify and list materials requirements
  • Carry out work flexibly and with mínimal disruption to the service users and ensure the premises are left clean and tidy to enhance the reputation of Hackney Housing to deliver excellent services.
  • Ability to work flexibly and deal constructively with a diverse range of customers handling complaints with empathy and constructively.
  • Carry out all work instructions allocated in a timely manner, in the order identified and to the required quality standard within the time scale allocated. Work in accordance with specifications as per work orders on job sheets or IT systems and adhereto job priority, ensuring work status is updated in accordance with procedures.
  • Accurately complete administrative work including recording all works undertaken, advising schedule codes and resources used in all instances on a handheld personal data assistant, similar device, or the appropriate works order. Complete all daily workrecords in a timely manner.
  • Positively participate in training and adopting new technologies to improve service delivery and productivity, ensuring your continuous personal development in line with trade standards.
  • Ability to successfully organise and prioritise your workload.
  • At all times comply with Health and Safety policies, procedures and safe working practices.
