    Description
    We are working with a pain management pharmaceutical business with global and strong EU presence. This is a 12 month FTC to start late May time to cover up-coming maternity leave in the business. Joining the business at this time is exciting and important to the client due to some exciting integration projects.


    Overview:


    As a senior legal counsel responsible for leading one area of a newly acquired business, you will have direct legal responsibility and provision of legal leadership, both strategic and operational, to the functions, in particular commercial matters, throughout the business.

    Will play a key role as a valued business partner and provide sound legal advice to the Senior Leadership team as well as to other key staff to advance the company's business.

    The candidate will ensure a smooth and robust process for generation and management of contracts across the business.
    Reporting into the Group Head of Legal (based in Germany)

    Key Responsibilities:

    Will play an active role facilitating the achievement of business goals, while at the same time safeguarding the company's assets and reputation; advising, managing and mitigating legal risks and assuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements.

    Will draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts and other agreements related to the commercial goals of the business.

    Will support the ongoing integration activities of the business into "group" by assisting the integration teams; will be responsible for the legal aspects of such integration from the business' perspective, under direct supervision and guidance by legal colleagues from HQ.Support migration to the group contract centre of excellence, which facilitates the fast pace of the business, for contract negotiation, drafting, approval, execution and management.

    Foster cross-functional collaboration with business, legal & compliance functions.

    Responsible for ensuring business compliance with all international and national laws and regulations, which includes and is not limited to Pharmaceutical law, Anti-Bribery and Corruption and EFPIA/local code of compliance.

    Position RequirementsUK-qualified solicitor or barrister.
    A trusted, commercially astute business partner of unquestionable integrity and sound communication skills.
    In addition to first class technical legal skills, the successful candidate will possess strong business acumen and excellent judgment.
    Lawyer with proven relevant experience in life sciences, bio technology, healthcare or pharmacuetical sectors and extensivecommercial contract law experience.
    Direct hands-on experience across a broad range of legal, governance and regulatory issues.
    A constructive and pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
    Well-organised, risk aware, results-orientated professional, able to work with ambiguity and manage numerous projects and conflicting demands.

    An approachable, down to earth personality and an individual who will roll up thier sleeves and delve into the detail when appropriate, looking for solutions in a demanding and results-driven environment.

    Key Competencies specific to the roleStrong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to understand complex legal concepts and translate those to non-lawyers to create practical processes, guidance and training.

    Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to work through challenging situations.


    Salary:
    Highly dependant on PQE Level £95,000 - £110,000 would be a sensible benchmark (if you are seeking a higher salary but interested in the role, please do still apply and i'd be happy to chat to you about alternative options and what the client can consider)
