- To assist with the development of clinical MRI services in a variety of clinical areas, to optimise MRI protocols and to assist with the procurement, evaluation, and planning of new MRI installations.
- To translate research and innovation to the clinical environment advising other healthcare professionals and exploring new ways of working as a result.
- To act as Trust Lead MR Safety Expert in providing MRI safety advice and MRI safety training for a range of healthcare professionals.
- To perform MRI quality assurance procedures, develop these as required and interpret the results and provide recommendations when appropriate.
- BSc in Physics, Engineering, Computer Sciences or Life Sciences.
- MSc in Medical Physics or Medical Imaging (or equivalent) and successful completion of the STP training scheme in an appropriate specialism or equivalent.
- HCPC Registration as a Clinical Scientist.
- PhD in relevant discipline.
- Chartered Physicist, Scientist or MIPEM equivalent.
- Certification as a MRSE
- Management qualification
- Completion of HSST Training
- At least 4-6 years' experience in magnetic resonance imaging physics, and medical image processing
- Sufficient knowledge and experience to act as a MRSE
- Used to working in multidisciplinary teams. Experience in MR safety and quality assurance in a clinical environment.
- Knowledge of MR Physics and its application in a clinical setting.
- Awareness of recent developments in both clinical and/or research MRI applications. Presentation of scientific papers at local and national meetings.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will support the delivery of our MRI equipment quality assurance, optimisation and safety programme, with the aim of assisting our supported sites in meeting their statutory and professional best practice obligations.
The role will involve acting as MR Safety Expert, MR equipment procurement, commissioning and provision of QC, optimisation & radiation safety. The role will involve training / teaching other staff and there will be opportunities to develop services. The other areas of Non-ionising Radiations are led by another post, but collaboration will be welcomed. NIR modalities currently include; ultrasound imaging, lasers, UV & blue light phototherapy and other appropriate EMF areas.
