    Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist

    We are seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist to join our existing site-specialist multidisciplinary teams in the fields of Breast Cancer.

    This is a part-time position (5 PAs) and the post will be based at St Bartholomew's Hospital.

    This post is advertised as a part-time 5 PA position a modified timetable would need to be requested prior to appointment for consideration by the Clinical Director.

    The role is a fixed-term position for 12 months

    To contribute to the provision of a comprehensive, efficient and high-quality evidence-based Medical Oncology service, with continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.

    Leadership, development and organisation of the services in his/her charge in line with Trust / Divisional business plans.

    Liaison and communication with the Clinical Academic Group Director and General Manager and with the Deputy Director of Operations of BCC.

    To develop his/her own interests and specialties within oncology, including active participation in research programmes.

    ~ To have regard at all times to the clinical and quality standards set out in the NHS Cancer Plan, the Improving Outcomes reports and National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidance reports.

    ~ To liaise effectively and on a timely basis with General Practitioners, community services, and all healthcare agencies.

    ~ To participate in the consultant on-call rota.

    ~ To engage fully in the annual job planning and appraisal cycle and to contribute to the appraisal of doctors in training.

    MD/PhD

    Broad based knowledge of and understanding of Medical Oncology, including chemotherapy and the principles of Palliative care.
    Training expected
    Higher Specialist Training in Medical Oncology.
    Experience in teaching / training undergraduates and postgraduates
    Formal management training

    Academic Achievements Research Publications
    PhD/ MD Thesis

    Ability to motivate and develop medical trainees
