A quick look at the role.
The Street Cleansing Supervisor will supervise and control operational activities of the depot.

The role will involve managing the workforce in the achievement of their daily/weekly/monthly tasks while ensuring the safe and efficient completion of the service within the requirements of the contract.


With line management responsibility involved, there may be the requirement to conduct team briefings, address staff on an individual/group basis and to also have some challenging conversations when required.

  • Monitoring workforce performance against targets to ensure all daily/weekly/monthly KPIs are met. Implement and monitor action plans to address variances between target and actual. Address any ongoing issues as appropriate.
  • Ensuring that all Company policies and procedures and legal obligations are understood and adhered to by all members of staff.
  • Developing and maintain excellent working relationships with the Client and internal/external customers.
  • Carrying out induction and safety training on a regular basis for all staff on site
  • Ensuring that safety check are carried out and suitable repairs completed
  • Managing staffing levels and holidays to meet the business needs
  • Responsible for submitting accurate and timely attendance records for operational staff
  • Ensuring all staff and third parties comply with Company Health and Safety procedures at all times. Attendance at SIT meetings if required, promotion of best practice.
  • Assisting with the management of employee relations issues where required, including employee absence issues, grievances and disciplinary within the scope of Company procedures and statutory guidelines.
  • Ensuring that all LGV, Plant & Machinery equipment is maintained and compliant in accordance with legal and company requirements.

Requirements:


Here's what we require:


  • Understanding of the waste industry and relevant laws (desirable).
  • Strong experience of people management with line management responsibility.
  • A basic understanding of HR scenarios and people management activities.
  • Experience of managing staff in a timecritical environment.
  • Previous experience of working in a logistics environment and a large/PLC organisation is desirable.
  • Computer literate and comfortable using business software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of how to compile business reports and adapting data for the required audience.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise effectively.
  • Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths, however A-Levels or a Degree certainly won't do any harm.
  • The ability to work within a commercially driven environment.
  • Proven track record of working to clearly defined service delivery KPI's.
  • Proven track record of delivering continuous improvement within an operational / service environment.
