    We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled enthusiastic clinician who enjoys working within an integrated multidisciplinary team, providing neuromuscular physiotherapy management for children and young people.

    This post is temporary for 1 year working 18.75 hours over Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.


    The post holder will be an integral part of the Childrens Neuromuscular team and Childrens Physiotherapy team at Leeds Childrens Hospital.

    The neuromuscular service at the Leeds Childrens Hospital is a tertiary referral centre for Yorkshire.

    They will work in clinic and outpatient services providing assessment and follow up care for this complex group of patients.

    The post holder will work closely with the MDT and carry a case load of complex children.

    He /she will provide support to regional therapists across Yorkshire managing children in their local district hospitals through written advice, telephone consultation and training.

    The post holder will have opportunity to support the Neuromuscular research study portfolio.

    They will have excellent communication and leadership skills.

    The post holder will work as part of the childrens physiotherapy team providing highly specialist care for children accessing the Neuromuscular Service at The Leeds Childrens Hospital.

    They will be a key member of the specialist Neuromuscular MDT providing initial assessments, follow up care and telephone liaison for this highly complex group of children, their carers and the regional therapists working with them locally.


    Based at the Leeds General Infirmary, the post holder will provide out-patient assessment and management for children in Leeds and the Yorkshire region as well as regular review of patients within the regional clinics held at Leeds Childrens Hospital The post holder may be required to attend outreach clinics across the Yorkshire and Humber Region on a regular basis.

    They may hold a clinical Caseload for children from 0-5 years with Neuromuscular Disease in the Leeds District. The post holder will be involved in clinical trials and may need to travel for training nationally and internationally.


    The post holder will contribute to the paediatric out of hours service at the Leeds Childrens Hospital and supervise rotational staff and students.

    The children's physiotherapy team is a team of approximately 40 physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants who work across Leeds Childrens Hospital.

    To perform the advanced physiotherapeutic assessment contributing to their diagnosis and treatment of patients within this specialist field who have complex physical conditions.

    He/She will play a key role in the management of these children and young people with neuromuscular conditions and advising physiotherapy colleagues across the region.


    He/she will be required to ensure effective communication is maintained at all times, whilst providing training, supervision and clinical expertise to qualified and unqualified staff and students.


    As a lead clinician in this speciality, the jobholder will act as a role model to the physiotherapy team, promoting quality evidence based practice, developing the physiotherapy team and contributing to the effective management of the team in the absence of the clinical service manager.

    To undertake all aspects of work as an autonomous practitioner within this specialist field.

    Degree in physiotherapy or equivalent
    Significant post-graduate education at specialist level 3, M Level or professional equivalent relevant to paediatric physiotherapy

    Ability to participate in out of hours paediatric respiratory service
    Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post (with reasonable adjustments if necessary), including clearance on blood borne viruses in compliance with Trust Policy

    Extensive post graduate clinical experience at a senior level in paediatrics
    Experience in Neuromuscular Physiotherapy

    Acute Paediatric Respiratory Physiotherapy
    Experience in Neuro Developmental Physiotherapy

    Knowledge of national and local priorities, guidelines and targets relevant to clinical field
