    UCL School of Pharmacy is one of the world's leading centres of excellence for pharmaceutical science, education and professional engagement.

    The Research Department of Pharmaceutics has particular research strengths in pharmaceutical materials science, drug delivery, and clinical pharmaceutical science. It has state-of-the-art equipment for pre-formulation studies and for the manufacture and characterization of a wide range of dosage forms and drug delivery systems.

    The Department has an outstanding reputation in research to determine the fundamental properties of pharmaceutical materials (drugs and excipients) and to relate these to product performance and clinical applications. It houses visiting scientists, MSc and MRes students and runs two successful MSc programmes; the MSc in Pharmaceutics and the MSc in Pharmaceutical Formulation and Entrepreneurship (PFE).     About the role

    An Instrumentation and Analytical Technician is required to support the MSc programmes and research activities within the research department. This includes the preparation and supervision of practical classes and training events, and overseeing the management of selected item of both teaching and research apparatus and equipment (in terms of routine maintenance, servicing, updating and replacement, booking and training).

    The post-holder will be required to contribute to the development and delivery of certain practical sessions in the Pharmaceutics/PFE MSc programmes. They will also be the lead technical support for the MSc research projects, arranging and delivering training, planning, and ensuring the provision of consumables and basic equipment for the projects.

    About you

    Applicants must have experience of working as a technician in a laboratory environment, familiarity with UCL processes (particularly as regards health and safety), and an understanding of the fundamental concepts of pharmaceutics and the associated analytical techniques.

    You must also have experience in the set-up, maintenance, and use of analytical instrumentation, including method development and have the technical ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
