Description

Based in Birmingham with travel required to various site locations across the HS2 line of route where necessary.

At HS2 we offer a two-year rotational graduate programme, providing you with the opportunity to stretch and challenge yourself across various programme related placements.

This programme is designed around enabling you to get as much experience as possible across the project within a particular business area.

After completion of the 2-year graduate programme graduates will be transferred into a role within the same discipline, but not necessarily the same business area.


Logistics:

The logistics team in HS2 is responsible for planning and assuring the movement of materials, plant, equipment and people to enable the construction of the railway in the most efficient, effective and safest way whilst minimising environmental and community impacts.

Logistics is also responsible for the consenting and assurance of temporary traffic management schemes required to carry out HS2's works.

We work across all phases of HS2 and are the custodians of data and compliance for transport operations which include several U&A and EMR specific requirements.

As a graduate in logistics, you will complete 4 to 6 placements within different departments throughout HS2 as well as placements and training within the logistics team.


Development Team:
The development team is responsible for the development of the HS2 route from Crewe to Manchester.

It plays a key role in supporting Department for Transport on the definition of further scope to extend HS2 North and support the development of the Northern Powerhouse Rail proposals and the delivery of the Integrated Rail Plan as part of the Government's levelling up agenda.


Stations:

Our role in the Stations team is to deliver the construction of three of the Phase One stations; Old Oak Common (OOC), Interchange (ICH) and Birmingham Curzon Street (BCS).

We work with the supply chain within the IPTs (Integrated Project Teams) to deliver the contracts and comply with the policies and standards set by HS2 Ltd as the Client.

They will take the lead, and HS2 Ltd provides the enabling and assurance role and importantly the role of integrator.

Rotating round various aspects of Project Management through the Rail Systems and Rolling Stock portfolio, £5bn worth or projects.


Programme Controls:

is responsible for cost management and estimating, risk management, schedule management and integration, performance reporting, tools and systems and programme management capability across the organisation and both Phase One and Phase Two.

Programme controls incorporates project controls and involves a ssuring all works performance baselines are established, integrated, and delivered to schedule, scope and within the budget envelope; and taking responsibility for provision of the management and control of all project controls activities.


On-Network Works (ONW): In partnership with Network Rail, the ONW team is delivering £2bn's worth of existing network changes required to enable the HS2 programme. This includes four Delivery Units (DUs) at Old Oak Common (OOC), Euston, BBV and EKFB, as well as Conventional Rail Interface (CRI) support. We work with the IPTs (Integrated Project Teams) and a complex network of stakeholders involving the Department for Transport (DfT) and Train Operators to connect the new HS2 infrastructure to the operational rail network.


Civils Delivery Area North:

the Project Management team work with the Main Works Civils Contractors (MWCC) in an Integrated Project Team (IPT) to deliver the £6.5bn programme of works for Area North; this covers approximately 80km from Southam in the south to Lichfield in the north and also includes the Birmingham Spur into Curzon Street Station.

The scope of works is complex and innovative with significant structures such as viaducts, embankments, motorway crossings and tunnels.

Many interfaces with third parties, such as Network Rail and National Highways make the works even more challenging and interesting, along with ensuring we are a good neighbour to communities along the route.

The Project management team are responsible for assuring and enabling delivery in line with the Contract and the HS2 Act, from design through to construction and handover to the Rail Systems Contractor.
