Working closely with a Contracts Surveyor to provide an effective and efficient handyman type service to Reside with Progress Supported Living properties across the whole of the midlands region.

The job is initially for a fixed term of 6 months with a view to becoming permanent and includes carrying out minor repairs and maintenance work, painting and decorating and site inspections for repairs and investment.

Ensuring that all work undertaken is completed with due regard for safety, quality and productivity.


WHAT WILL THE RIGHT PERSON LOOK LIKE?


Someone who has extensive experience of working in a social housing and more specifically within the supported living environment which includes working with vulnerable and disabled tenants.

The right person will also be honest, trustworthy, conscientious, able to work independently and use own initiative to solve problems and also committed to customer care.


WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
This role has a number of core objectives including:

Communicate effectively and efficiently with customers, internal colleagues and stakeholders.

Always treat customers and their property with respect and explain the nature and purpose of the work being carried out.


  • Carry out basic maintenance and repairs across Reside with Progress sites, responsible for minor joinery, plumbing and maintenance works, including removing any waste from site. Works include, but are not limited to easing doors,, renewing skirting, changing toilet seats, changing toilet syphons, resealing shower trays, tiling, changing light bulbs and adjusting windows. Carry out responsive and cyclical internal painting and decorating.
  • Ensure that appointments are kept and repairs are carried out promptly within appropriate time scales.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to ensure maintenance work and repairs are carried out promptly and effectively either inhouse or by our contractors.
  • Liaise with colleagues and contractors for the completion of jobs above and beyond your scope.
  • Accurately complete documentation and job tickets within our cores systems, relating to materials and time spent, enabling calculation of productivity and job costs.
  • Accurately manage materials, following the stock and stores procedure as appropriate. Ensure that all materials are kept in good condition.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with the requirements of Health and Safety and all relevant legislation and codes of practice.

Additional Information


The hours for this post are 36.25 hours per week which will exclude up to 30 minutes travelling time to and from your home.

Should travel time exceed 30 minutes, this will be included in your weekly hours.

As an example, if you leave home at 8.30am, and it takes 1 hour to reach your first appointment at 9.30am, your working hours for that day will start at 9am.

If you leave your last job at 4.00pm and do not arrive home until 7.00pm, your working hours for that day will stop at 6.30pm.
