Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Fibre Engineer with a strong focus on FTTH (Fibre to the Home) for a contract role based in Glasgow.
As a Fibre Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of fibre-optic networks to deliver high-speed internet, voice, and video services.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and plan FTTH network architecture, including the layout of fibre cables, OLT placement, and ONU distributionSelect and procure the necessary FTTH networking equipment and materials, ensuring optimal network performancePerform capacity planning to meet the current and future demands of residential subscribersOversee and quality-check the installation of fibre-optic cables and associated hardwareConduct optical testing, including OTDR testing, to ensure that connections meet performance standardsTroubleshoot and resolve network issues, ensuring high levels of uptime and reliabilityMaintain compliance with industry standards and regulations related to FTTH networksCollaborate with equipment vendors and suppliers to source necessary hardware and materialsProvide technical support to customers, assisting with complex technical issues as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)Proven experience in designing and implementing FTTH networks, with a strong focus on residential deploymentsIn-depth knowledge of fibre-optic technology, including fibre types, optical splitters, and related equipmentProficiency in network design and capacity planningFamiliarity with industry standards and regulations, including Fiber to the Home Council (FTTH Council) recommendationsStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsExcellent communication and teamwork abilitiesProject management experience is a plus.
