    Your role and responsibilities

    As an Education Training and Employment Coordinator within the Suffolk Youth Justice Service, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes, Educational Psychologists, Social Workers, Police Officers, Practitioners, Probation Officers, Speech and Language Therapists, Substance Misuse Workers and Mental Health Professionals.

    You will work with colleagues across Suffolk County Council to ensure that every child open to our service receives their full entitlement to education and has the opportunity to fulfil their unique potential. You will utilise your communication skills to hear the voice of the child and ensure this is effectively communicated to colleagues and professionals working with the child and their family. As part of your role you will build relationships with local education providers and attend multi-agency meetings to improve and re-establish children's engagement with education, employment and training.

    You will need:

  • experience working with children and families within education and children's services
  • a positive 'can do' approach to working with families and partner agencies
  • a willingness to learn and grow within the role, bringing transferable skills that will strengthen and improve the existing skills in the team
  • a minimum of GSCE Maths and English or equivalent, alongside a relevant degree/level 6 qualification or equivalent experience.

    You will sit within the Suffolk Youth Justice Service which is dedicated to changing the lives of young people in Suffolk. We work with children and young people to help them stop offending, fulfil their potential, and go on to lead successful lives. Alongside this we work with victims of youth crime using restorative approaches. As part of our work, we support and encourage the rights of young people, keep them safe and promote their physical and mental wellbeing.
