    Description

This is an exceptional opportunity to join us at what is a critical time of change. Following the events of the last year and the failings identified in the subsequent investigations, we have embarked on a journey of improvement and are already making progress to improve patient safety, create a better working environment for our staff, and to strengthen our leadership and governance. As our new Chief Operating Officer, you will play a pivotal role on our Board and be a central conduit for enabling effective patient pathways and flow across the Greater Manchester system. Supporting a new Chair and CEO and working in close partnership with ourMedical Director and Chief Nurse, this is a rare leadership opportunity that will make a significant difference.

    Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be working in a challenging but extremely rewarding context and it is imperative we appoint a new Chief Operating Officer who is not only an outstanding leader, but also someone who is able to live our values and help us drive forward our vision to improve the lives of the people who use our services, their families, and carers, and those in our workforce and wider community. We need someone who can demonstrate how they can operate with openness, compassion, and honesty so that we can rebuild trust and achieve our ambition to create a truly inclusive culture where our colleagues are supported to provide anexceptional service to the diverse communities we serve. You will also play an important role externally, working closely with leadership teams across Greater Manchester to improve patient flow and optimise the quality of clinical services for our communities.

We know that diversity of experience and thought are essential in any senior leadership team. It is essential that all NHS Boards are reflective of the diverse communities they serve. All appointments will be based on merit and we would welcome applicants from ethnically diversebackgrounds, particularly those of African or Caribbean heritage as our data consistently demonstrates we are under-represented in this area.
