    Role Description

    This is a full-time on-site role for a Chemical Process Engineer. The Chemical Process Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing chemical processes. The role also involves process control, troubleshooting and optimizing production processes to ensure the efficient production of high-quality products. It will be necessary to independently identify improvement opportunities within the business and then act to build strategic relationships across multidisciplinary business units (including customers) to address these actions and achieve the strategic goals of the business. The work will involve monitoring and analysis of processes and data in conjunction with laboratory, pilot and plant scale development and commissioning trials for our operations. Additionally, the role will include a number of activities through design, develop and commission where applicable. The incumbent will take direct responsibility for the delivery of research scaling-up and development projects to generate new processes and technical understanding of the refining processes that actively translate into commercial value. You will also have the responsibility of collaborating with a team of chemists.

    Qualifications

    • MSc in Chemical Engineering is required
    • 3-5 years of hands-on lab experience in a process scale-up environment (PhD years ok if relevant) is required
    • Experience working with solvent-based processes
    • Ability to develop mass balances, process flow diagrams, and make key equipment selections for early phases of process scale-up (benchtop)
    • Engineering Chartership or ability to apply for the same
    • Strong commitment to Health & Safety
    • Chemical Process Engineering and Process Engineering skills
    • Process Design and Process Control experience
    • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize production processes
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Experience with computer-based process modeling software (e.g. Aspen, gPROMS, etc.)
    • Experience with Life cycle analysis software (e.g. SimaPro, OpenLCA, Gabi, etc.)
    • Experience with renewable chemicals and sustainable manufacturing is a plus
    • Great organizational skills with good attention to detail.
