    About the role

    Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Operations Manager to join our growing team.

    We can be flexible with the base location for this role.

    As an Operations Manager you will: Proactively lead, manage and coordinate the Operator Skills Hub focusing on growing the delivery beyond the existing Dunton Wharf site by engaging with customers to develop a strategy to maximise the opportunities for training delivery and then overseeing the delivery of the works. This includes the
    development of new planned facilities at Iver and Lound as part of an initial phase of expansion with further phases planned in Dartford, central Scotland and the NW of England.

    Taking ownership for all aspects of the OSH delivery to ensure excellent and sustained customer satisfaction embedded at a local level and delivered through well communicated and proactive engagement with the OSH JV board and partner senior teams. Adopt a consistent and robust approach to the use of the BB Business Management System whilst maintaining cognisance of our JV partners needs as well.

    What you'll be doing

  • P&L responsibility for Operator Skills Hub
  • Develop a solid working relationship with our JV Partners (Flannery) and work on behalf of both partners to ensure a safe and profitable delivery of OSH training across all sites.
  • Form relationships with the customer or their representatives to develop clear
    understanding of their requirements
  • Champion the Customer by being visible across their sites, solving problems and
    mobilising solutions
  • Develop 12 month lookahead forecasts for the works which are resource and cost loaded
  • Develop and implement a weekly digital drum beat to ensure consistency of reporting across the workstreams
  • Manage commercial and business risk to achieve targets
  • Understand the relevant Contract terms and conditions for each project and provide executive summaries as required
  • Identify any problem areas, agreeing corrective actions with relevant stakeholders, and ensuring their implementation
  • Utilise BIM, where appropriate, and the supporting digital tool set to drive optimisation,safety and performance improvement throughout the whole project lifecycle
  • Lead, develop and coach individuals to build high performing teams and create a pipeline of talent
  • A consistent and robustly embedded safety culture across all OSH facilities, engaging with the BBPFS SHEQ, Engineering and Compliance teams to adopt a professional "best in class" delivery operation.
  • Provide monthly report to JV board covering all aspects of the Delivery function with targeted priorities and a full KPI update
  • Be aware of industry best practice and innovation, and ensure that a culture of
    innovation and continuous improvement is engrained in the wider Delivery team
  • Ensure compliance with the Balfour Beatty Business Management System through support and audit.
  • Who we're looking for

  • Significant previous experience in project management, in particular managing complex jobs, within the construction industry is required.
  • Experience of training delivery desirable but not essential
  • The ability to communicate effectively is required in order to manage customer relationships, in addition to strong planning and organisation skills to deliver operational excellence and efficiency. As a result the role requires sound presentational skills and the associated confidence to deliver the message.
  • Strong leadership skills, including experience of leading teams and confidence in the ability to lead, influence and communicate with others to deliver targets are required.
  • Financial awareness is required to deliver targets, with a desire to continuously improve safety and sustainability performance.
  • The role requires a capable person-manager, able to develop and coach their team, address human resource issues promptly and robustly, taking the appropriate action when required.
  • The individual will need to be able to set, deliver and measure clear targets, possess
  • Commercial and contractual knowledge and have the ability to develop strong business acumen.
  • In developing new sites the individual will require a can do attitude to problem solving couple
    with a willingness to ask for help.
