An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor based at the Royal Gwent Hospital.


The role will consist of supervising and co-ordinating a group of multi-skilled maintenance staff and other trades including maintenance assistants and apprentices.

The post holder will be responsible for the effective planning and efficient use of both labour and financial resources.


It will be paramount to promote a positive culture within the workforce with regard to health and safety, manual handling, including permits to work and risk assessments.


You will be involved in the successful resolution of complex faults on all types of building service systems and equipment.

The Supervisor must have served a recognised apprenticeship in either mechanical, electrical or building disciplines, completed a relevant City & Guilds craft certificate course and possess a sound knowledge of trade principles and practice.


They must have gained a thorough understanding of building services systems and have a minimum of two years relevant experience ,having demonstrated high versatility and flexibility and have kept abreast of technical knowledge associated with a healthcare environment.


To provide technical information and to advise other staff groups of Works & Estate issues which may have an impact on service delivery.


To manage, plan and prioritise maintenance or minor works activities on a day to day and long term basis and to ensure the workforce are gainfully employed at all times.


To possess the necessary IT skills needed to enter and manipulate data associated with the Frontline maintenance management system and electronic procurement system.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
