- Degree Level or Equivalent experience. Equivalent qualification/award agreed by HMRC's Head of Development / Head of ECS;
- Experience of workload, performance and development within a team of Product Developers building capability to deliver the products as required; and
- Experience in Cloud development roles.

We are looking for someone who will be responsible for leading and working within a scrum team analysing, designing, developing, automating and delivering Core Platform Shared Services in HMRC's Cloud Environment.
You'll be naturally; a self-starter, apt at working individually or as part of a small team, able to convey technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders and able to own product development through to delivery.
You will be hands on with an Engineering background but must also be passionate about mentoring and coaching as it is important to us that this role has people focus.
This role sits within HMRC's Chief Digital & Information Group (CDIO), specifically in the Enterprise Cloud Services (ECS) team.We are transforming and growing to enhance its HMRC Cloud Centre of Excellence offering, and we are a diverse team of 80+ individuals, creating a dynamic and inclusive working environment whose skills cover Architecture, Development, Service Design, Operation and Governance.
Job description:
- Working in a productcentric development team, you'll bring your extensive DevOps skills and SRE awareness to build services and bring them into full production operation.
- You'll work closely across the team to engineer for reliability, maintainability, performance and security and play a key role in diagnosing service issues and devising and implementing permanent enhancements to infrastructure and tooling
Person specification:
- Develop our existing AWS Cloud Platform using a broad range of CI/CD technologies
- Gitlab, Ansible, Artifactory, Jenkins, Jira.
- Ensure Service, Security, Commercial and Operational design aspects are incorporated from the beginning of the delivery process.
- Adopt an Agile approach to delivery where new services or service improvements are delivered collaboratively and incrementally to realise business value at the earliest opportunity.
- Mentor and coach reporting team members and have a focus on continuous improvement.
Essential Criteria:
- Knowledge of AWS Products and strong understanding of AWS concepts.
- Familiarity with software testing approaches.
- Experience of using Git & Git Workflows.
- Understanding of Serverless approaches.
Desirable Criteria:
- STEM related degree, or equivalent technical certifications.
- Applied skills of CI/CD using Gitlab.
- Experienced in using Container technologies.
- Terraform or CloudFormation skills.
- Experience in managing a team of engineers/developers.

Team members that are moving offices as a result of the Locations Programme will be entitled to a Moves Adjustment Payment for three years where they incur additional costs.
This is calculated based on the difference between the costs of travelling to and from the new and old office, over a weekly period.
