    An exciting opportunity has a risen for a new role to support the set up and delivery of online rehabilitation classes to Stroke Survivors in the Cheshire and Mersey Region. As part of the Neurorehabilitation Online team (NROL) you will get the opportunity to apply your digital skills to service development and delivery, working remotely with patients and therapists to support access to online rehabilitation classes.

    Following a successful funding bid by Cheshire and Mersey Region Integrated Stroke Delivery Network, the Countess of Chester Hospital has been chosen to host the implementation of NROL in collaboration with other NHS Trusts in the region. NROL is an innovative online program providing virtual stroke rehabilitation group therapy. The NROL team includes neurotherapists, psychologists, assistants, the Stroke association, technology support and admin.

    Main duties of the job

  • Design and future development of NROL digital resources and access to relevant systems across the participating Trusts in the Cheshire and Mersey region.
  • Service delivery, evaluation and performance data collection.
  • Ensuring all patients have the technical support required to access their on-line therapy, and that this access is maintained throughout their therapy, through individualised packages of remote support.
  • Developing, uploading and maintaining the NROL digital platform used and all central resources.
  • Advising staff on how to maximise their use of digital resources in the provision of NROL and contribute to the evaluation of the impact of this mode of learning using a variety of evaluation techniques and outcome measures in conjunction with the project team.
  • Use advanced communication skills to work with patients who have acquired neurological difficulties which may impact their cognition and communication.

    The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. Its services are provided from three locations:

  • The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 438 general and acute beds.
  • Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 56 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility.
  • Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.
  • The Trust employs over 6258 staff (headcount) which includes temporary bank staff and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services and obstetric services to a population of approximately 407,000. This includes 357,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire which has a population of approximately 50,000.

    The Trust is a busy district general hospital and in 2022/2023, there were more than 503,342 patient attendances (inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic) ranging from a simple outpatient appointment to major cancer surgery. This is an increase of nearly 10,000 compared to the previous year when there were 494,387 patient attendances.

    Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £23 (standard) or £43 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first three months of employment.

    You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. A small annual fee of £13 per year applies.

    New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language - Grad C or above
  • L5 Diploma/NVQ qualification/ First degree in Technology enhanced learning or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • e-delivery/learning methodology related qualification or relevant experience
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Desirable

  • Teaching qualification at Certificate in Education level (or equivalent experience) PGCE
  • Digital media qualification
  • Qualified in project management techniques
  • Knowledge and experience

    Essential

  • Experience of working within a therapeutic/learning environment
  • Experience of enabling people to access online resources
  • Knowledge of and experience of working with a range of hardware and software packages common in the NHS & general public
  • Knowledge of using advanced communication skills for interacting and supporting people
  • Desirable

  • Consultancy experience including scoping out issues, putting together proposals and designing tailored solutions
  • Experience of supporting the delivering online therapy
  • Experience of working with people with acquired neurological difficulties
