The post is initially fixed term for 12 months


We have an opportunity for an ST3+ Level Trust Doctor to join our Obstetric & Gynaecology department, one at Peterborough City Hospital.

The post will include a mixture of service and special interest.

The specialist interest programme will be tailored to the individual needs of each applicant and you will be assigned a Consultant mentor.


You will be part of the middle grade junior doctors 1 in 7 on call rota and will pick up other clinical activities according to current UK practice.

The post-holder will be required to participate in middle grade junior doctors on call rota along with other clinical activities according to current UK practice.


They will need to have experience in and be able to manage common Obstetric problems, including failure to progress in labour, secondary arrest of labour, induction of Labour, PET, sepsis, APH and PPH.


Although there is always a consultant resident on the delivery suite during the daytime and twilight shifts (until 2130), out of hours the post-holder will be required to have clinical experience in and be competent to provide clinical service in obstetrics and gynaecology.

The posts will include a mixture of service and special interest.

The special interests programme will be tailored to the individual needs of each applicant eg if the applicant was interested in Advanced Labour Ward practice then there would be proportionally more LW sessions rostered for that individual.

There will be very close liaison with the Rota Co-ordinators. Applicants who choose surgical special interests would be allocated a number of theatre sessions.

Most clinics will be consultant supervised, but there may be the opportunity to have independent clinical sessions put on, by arrangement.

Each applicant will be assigned a Consultant mentor. There may also be the opportunity to 'Act up' as Consultant during daytime sessions.
