Position Summary

Role Summary


As a Buyer at Parker Meggitt, you will work within a fast-paced environment managing and supporting both New Product Introduction (NPI) and operational procurement.

You'll create weekly supplier schedule reports, secure acknowledgments from sub-suppliers and maintain Material Requirement Planning (MRP) records, expediting all elements to ensure delivery in accordance with system dates, monitoring and allocated performance KPI's.


In addition, you will obtain quotations, raise purchase orders, maintain the costing databases and support the overall purchasing function with ongoing projects.


Core Responsibilities

  • Working closely with engineering on NPI projects whilst being the main procurement point of contact
  • Working with suppliers to support the current and future business needs
  • Reducing / eliminating risk and ensuring continuity of parts supply from subsuppliers
  • Identifying cost reduction opportunities that support the direct and indirect cost reduction targets
  • Investigating and resolving invoice queries
  • Supporting the Supply Chain Lead with local / Group reporting of metrics on supplier performance using the Vendigital reporting business tool as and when required
  • Attending daily team meetings

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential

  • Good working knowledge of operational procurement and successful supplier management
  • Logical thinker with the ability to juggle multiple tasks within a fastpast professional environment
  • Selfstarter with a proactive attitude to taking on new tasks and projects
  • Good Risk management mindset, proactive in identifying and dealing with potential business risks

Desirable

  • Experience in using SAP / ERP
  • Proven experience of managing complex supplier relationships
  • Demonstrable experience of implementation and contract negation
  • CIPS qualified
