The Fluid Systems Principal Design Engineer (FSPDE) is a member of the Mechanical Design Engineering Team with advanced knowledge and hands on experience in fluid systems and fluid dynamics.

The Mechanical Design Engineering team owns the primary design responsibility from Proof of Concept (PoC) to the completion of the prototype phase (Alpha) and remains a key member of the cross functional project team throughout the entire product development process.

The preferred candidate will bring experience in electromechanical systems and mechanisms including fluid, pneumatic and hydraulic drive systems and precision fluid dispensing technologies to advance the development of state-of-the-art biodevices used in the animal health industry.

In addition to initial design conceptualizations, the candidate will assist the Product Engineering teams to ensure product performance is met while scaling the product for launch and ensuring the design meets requirements and goals for reliability and serviceability.

Responsible for component and system level conceptual design & development process through completion of the functional prototype phase milestone of the stage gate process.

Design and development of electromechanical systems and mechanisms including fluid, pneumatic and hydraulic drive systems, and fluid dispensing systems while understanding the interface to electrical control systems and underlying biological process needs.

• Collaborate with cross functional teams (product engineering, biology, testing/reliability, electrical engineering, software & controls, systems engineering, manufacturing, commercial, and service) to develop innovative products and processes for our Biodevice business.
• Present and communicate development/improvement projects status to Engineering Leadership Team (ELT) and other business leads.
• Perform assessment of design risks, and proposing, evaluating and implementing mitigations through the use of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) methods.
• Develop design specifications, conduct engineering parameter assessments, develop test plans and application of design robustness disciplines.
• Oversee the development of detailed drawings, BOM's and release in collaboration with the CAD and PLM team, as needed.
• S. in Mechanical Engineering, MSME or PE preferred.
• Minimum of 15 years demonstrated engineering experience in a complex engineered product environment.
• Minimum of 10 years demonstrated engineering R&D experience in the development of fluid systems, hydraulic systems, computational fluid component selection, sizing, and custom designs.
• Minimum of 8 years of demonstrated experience with SolidWorks 3D Engineering Design Software [or similar CAD software].
• Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience using finite element analysis (FEA) tools [Solidworks Simulation, Ansys, or similar] for R&D and new product development.
• Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis tools [Ansys, COMSOL, SimFlow, or similar] for R&D and new product development.
