    Job Summary

    We have an exciting opportunity to join our Dietetic team at Ashford and St Peter's Hospital for the position of B6 Diabetes Dietitian. The role offers a variety of benefits, including flexible and hybrid working options, as well as professional development opportunities.

    We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible, and dedicated Dietitian to work as part of our Multidisciplinary Diabetes Team at the Stephanie Marks Centre at Ashford and St Peters Hospital. The team provides expert Diabetes dietary advice, structured education, and training related to diabetes management for patients and their caregivers.

    Key responsibilities include managing dietary care planning for patients using Diabetes Insulin pumps, glucose monitors, and hybrid closed loop systems, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to improve health and quality of life.

    Main Duties of the Job

    The Diabetes Dietetic team at Ashford and St Peter's Hospital provides nutrition and dietetic services to patients, including structured education for diabetes management. The role involves working with the Band 7 Diabetes Dietitian to oversee the Insulin Pump service and provide dietary advice to patients and caregivers.

    The successful candidate will actively contribute to the Dietetic Department's operations and participate in student training.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Expert Diabetes dietary advice and education for patients and caregivers
    • Supporting the Insulin Pump service and dietary care planning
    • Specialist consultant clinic support and policy development
    • Educating and training healthcare professionals and students
    • Participating in the Dietetic service across 7 days

    Person Specification

    Qualifications and Further Training

    Essential

    • Degree in Dietetics (or equivalent qualification)
    • Current registration with HCPC

    Desirable

    • Relevant post-registration training in Diabetes education
    • Counselling skills and motivational interview training

    Experience

    Essential

    • Clinical dietetics experience with all types of diabetes patients
    • Previous NHS secondary care experience
    • Multidisciplinary team working experience

    Desirable

    • Prior experience in a Diabetes service, including insulin pumps knowledge

    Knowledge

    Essential

    • Clinical practice in dietetic services
    • Understanding of patients' needs with Diabetes
    • Familiarity with NICE guidelines for Diabetes

    Desirable

    • Knowledge of Diabetes therapies and insulin management
    • Skills

      • Effective communication and teamwork skills
