    Description

    The Design Application Engineer is a senior position with responsibility for converting customers' requirements into product that can be designed, manufactured and supported by Ridgemount Technologies Ltd and other Emtelle Group Companies. Your work will specialise in, but not be limited to, Harsh Environment Applications, in particular the Industrial and Defence markets.

    The role requires frequent communication with customers to ensure that their requirements and subsequent designs are synchronised with the products and process capabilities of Ridgemount to create a sustainable business in these markets.

    The ideal candidate will need to work as a team member within the Engineering and Manufacturing functions of Ridgemount Technologies ensuring that all aspects of product manufacture, process documentation, product quality, operational tooling are maintained to the highest possible levels, and to ensure that customer service levels are achieved along with Ridgemount's Technologies Business & Quality Objectives.

    Responsibilities

    • Customer Interface for Harsh Environment Applications
    • Manage appointed customers and their requirements for Harsh Environment products and assemblies to maximise the adoption of Ridgemount products into the customers' solutions
    • Formulate a commercial response, quotation and proposals to both direct customers and Emtelle Group companies for project solutions
    • Design and develop new and existing products to meet customers' expectations and requirements, and the manufacturing tooling and processes along with necessary controls to realise the required product
    • Coordinate process improvements and training both internally and with strategic customers focusing on the optimisation of equipment supplied by Ridgemount Technologies Ltd. Update customers on relevant product improvements
    • Use CAD systems to provide customers with detailed and accurate drawings of the products and assemblies required. Ensure all project work is logged on the Ridgemount RFS (project) register and all related project documentation is filled in accordance with the Ridgemount Quality Procedures
    • Interpret customer drawings and to translate these into Ridgemount drawings and manufacturing documentation
    • Collaborate with other engineering teams and production teams to ensure the right outcome for customers
    • Participate in Engineering review meetings to progress projects

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or relevant field experience
    • Minimum 2 years of work experience in conception, assembly design, and tooling
    • Competencies in 3D CAD, CAM, and mechanical drawing
    • Understanding of machining and moulding processes
    • Good knowledge of materials and their applications
    • Detail oriented ability to multitask
    • Ability to confidently and competently communicate complex issues to varying levels of audiences in an effective manner both verbally and in writing
