    Emergency Care at BHRUT is provided in its Emergency Departments (EDs) across two sites, Queen's Hospital Romford and King George Hospital Ilford. Due to their geographical locations, the departments see a broad spectrum of pathologies across both urban and rural settings. Combined patient numbers approach 250,000 and reach in excess of 170,000 type 1 patients per annum.

    The larger of the two EDs at Queen's Hospital is comprised of an 8 bay Resuscitation Room and a 25 bay Majors area. The Resus Room has dedicated trauma and stroke bays due to persistent demand. In addition to these areas are Majors B, Paediatric ED and a Rapid Assessment and Treatment Area. King George Hospital has recently undergone a large programme of redevelopment which has seen the resus unit expand from 3 to 6 cubicles, an expanded majors area, and a new Rapid Assessment and Treatment area, as well as an expanded Children's ED and a new Emergency Decision Unit.

    The present team of Consultants have a keen interest in further developing the following areas of the department: Trauma, Critical Care, Education, Research and Paediatric Emergency Medicine. Our Paediatric unit underwent a transformation in 2014 and our vision is to become one of London's leading paediatric emergency units.

    Main duties of the job To provide high quality clinical assessment and intervention and treatment for a caseload of a variety of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.

    To work autonomously at an advanced clinical level in the direct delivery of high quality care, making critical clinical decisions based on thorough clinical assessment and interpretation of diagnostic interventions and delivery of therapeutic interventions.

    To demonstrate sound clinical decision making and deliver expert care for a wide variety of patients presenting to the Emergency Department with undifferentiated diagnoses

    To work within the four pillars of the 'Multi-professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice' through collaboration with clinical teams to meet the needs of patients supporting the delivery and development of service, policy and procedures, and ensuring the maintenance of high quality care and clinical excellence.

    To provide clinical expertise, support and leadership within the ACP, medical, nursing and allied health teams.

    To support the corporate team in developing and delivering the Trust Advanced Practice strategy and vision.

    To contribute to the delivery of training and education within the Emergency Department and maintain own professional development and competence.

    To take opportunities to lead or contribute towards research and audit in the pursuit of the continued pathway towards clinical excellence.     We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre Radiotherapy Centre Hyper Acute Stroke Unit and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital.     • Registered nurse or Allied Health Professional (NMC or HCPC)
    • Masters Degree in Advanced Practice, or relevant higher level degree plus PG Diploma in Advanced Practice
    • MSc Advanced Practice including Non Medical Prescribing
    Desirable
    • Knowledge of more than one area of clinical practice ie surgery, medicine, orthopedics, ITU
    • ALS, ATLS, EPALS provider
    Experience Essential
    • Evidence of managing caseload of acute presentations in ED
    • Evidence of change management.

    • Experience of leading and managing within a multi-professional team
