    Fermentation Scientist/Engineer

    The Clean Food Group is a highly innovative start-up focusing on developing sustainable foods through precision fermentation. Our mission is to combat deforestation and climate change by creating delicious, eco-friendly, and nutritious foods using fermentation technology.

    We are currently seeking a skilled Fermentation Scientist/Engineer to join our dedicated team in Ledbury, Herefordshire. This role will involve working on scaling up fermentations at our demonstration plant.

    Your role

    You will be responsible for:

    • Safely and sustainably running upstream and downstream processes at the demonstration plant
    • Operating production equipment, including large vessels
    • Optimising fermentation processes for better yields
    • Executing and monitoring fermentation processes with precision
    • Performing analytical testing for quality control
    • Preparing fermentation media and instruments
    • Collaborating with different teams to drive technological advancements

    The ideal candidate

    We are looking for a motivated team player with a passion for sustainability and bioprocessing. The successful candidate should have a strong background in biochemical engineering, a good understanding of safety protocols, and knowledge of microbiology. Effective communication and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.

    Requirements:

    • 3+ years experience in biochemical engineering and bioprocessing
    • Knowledge of safety regulations and GMP
    • Ideally a Masters or PhD in a relevant field
    • Proficiency in microbiology and yeast
    • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment
    • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

    What we offer

    £40,000 per annum salary
