The Hereford operation is the major European production facility in the PCC Energy Group and we now have an exciting opportunity for a
HR Advisor to join the SMW team.


Role Overview:

Reporting to the HR Manager, the HRBP/ Advisor is responsible for providing a proactive service on HR related matters to SMW and Caledonian Alloys, to include:

  • Employee relations and communications
  • Disciplinary and Grievance (up to and including dismissal stage)
  • Attendance and Absence Management.
  • Performance Management and Development
  • Policy development and implementation
  • Human Capital Planning
  • Employee Engagement
  • Compliance
  • Benefits administration
  • Project implementation

Essential Functions:


  • Provide the delivery of highquality Human Resources (HR) services. Responsibilities include leader/employee coaching and consultation, succession and career planning, workforce development, performance management/accountability, training, supervisory development, labour and employee relations, employee communications and engagement, compensation planning, and compliance
  • To advise and support Line Managers in the ongoing management of all Employee Relations case work, i.e., Mediation, Disciplinary, Grievance, Performance Management, Capability and Absence/Attendance
  • To provide general HR support, advice and guidance on all forms of HR related queries to all people managers and employees including but not limited to; maternity, paternity, carer and parental leave, flexible working requests, probationary periods etc
  • Support performance management process where necessary, advising departmental Managers regarding any issues and processes
  • Policy and procedure implementation/updating in line with current employment law. Ensuring Managers and Supervisors are up to date with any changes
  • Ensure corporate governance and compliance and investigate complaints
  • Ensuring HR audit information is completed in line with new starter checklists etc as part of first day induction procedures
  • Deliver any training on policies as directed by HRM
  • Manage absenteeism through effective monitoring of the absence reports produced by the HR Apprentice. Assist line managers where necessary in returntowork interviews, ensuring referrals to Occupational Health or stress management where necessary. Ensure any disciplinary triggers are monitored and managed effectively working with local line management
  • Manage the referrals of ongoing medicals and attendance reviews with the onsite Occupational Health Advisor to ensure all employees have regular medicals in timescales as advised by HSE. Ensure effective referral procedures are undertaken from line management to occupational health
  • Process salary/job change forms where necessary and prepare appropriate salary increase letters and notifications
  • Manage & maintain HR Documentation: To assist in the maintenance of employee personnel files and HR records. To prepare HR documentation as required for all employees, such as; reference and confirmation letters, filing and archiving
  • Attend HSE / Trade Union meetings as necessary
  • Assist the HRM in consulting with representatives as necessary
  • Conduct Investigations, Employee relations good practice, including capability and conduct management processes discipline and grievances, working with Trade Unions as necessary
  • To identify change in legislation and make appropriate recommendations for change, deletion or inclusion where necessary of policies
  • Understand company policies and procedures
  • Manage any investigations and disciplinary/grievance matters as required up to and including the stage of a dismissal
  • To coordinate any Industrial Tribunal claims that are received and to consult where applicable, with HRM and the Company's legal advisors in defending such claims
  • Create monthly HR reports as directed by HRM
  • Manage the annual Performance Management process with line managers and ensure all reviews are done on time and in full. Work with and coach managers on completing Mid Term Reviews and understanding the importance of regular performance management
  • Handle day to day employee relations queries from employees and union representatives
  • Organise, prioritise and manage a diverse administrative workload under pressure
  • Be a SOX tester in line with business requirements
  • Lead HR Projects as and when directed by the HRM, including consultation, communication, design, time management, implementation and trainingA

Education/ Qualification/ Knowledge:


  • Degree qualification and CIPD Level 5

Experience:


  • At least 23 years' experience within a HR Generalist role ideally in a fast paced, results driven, manufacturing environment
