    The Role

We are looking to hire a qualified corporate tax lawyer ideally with a minimum of 1 year PQE to assist with a broad range of advisory work and tax support work to law firms. Ideally candidates would have a broad experience of advising on corporate, property taxes and employee incentives, but we are flexible on the type and mix of experience offered.

If you have always wanted to work as a tax lawyer and currently work in an advisory role in a large accountancy firm this represents a rare opportunity to refocus your career and potentially qualify as a lawyer.

    Who Are We?

MSA Law - part of the wider AMS Group.

MSA Law is a specialist tax law firm focusing on advice to companies, owner-managed businesses, and the individuals behind them on business tax issues, in particular those associated with organisational change and business succession.

MSA Law was established 11 years ago by Bernard McIlroy and Fiona Sutherland, two very experienced partner-level individuals with big firm backgrounds who decided that they wanted to offer tax legal services outside the traditional structure and confines of a large commercial law firm.

    What You'll be Doing

    • Advising mainly owner managed businesses and their owners on the tax issues associated with organisational change and business succession, including buy out structures, reconstructions and reorganisations, demergers, buy-backs and sales, and employee ownership trusts
    • Advising on employee equity incentivisation structures, including EMI options, company share option plans and growth shares
    • Advising property investors and developers on property structures and exit strategies
    • Advising on venture capital reliefs
    • Providing M&A tax transaction support to other law firms, in particular negotiating and agreeing the tax covenant and tax warranties on share acquisitions and disposals
    • Liaising with third party professionals including corporate financiers, solicitors and other tax advisers, including in the context of transactions involving multiple parties
    • Provision of tax technical support to colleagues
    • Working closely with a partner to manage client relationships and service delivery
    • Assistance in supervising more junior colleagues (dependent on level of qualification of candidate)

    What's On Offer

    • Performance related bonus
    • Flexible working
    • Cycle to work scheme
    • Perkbox discounts
    • WPA health cash plan
