Community Engagement Officer - Bedfordshire, United Kingdom - East of England Ambulance Service Trust

We are recruiting to this role as a genuine occupational requirement (GOR)[1]as referenced in section 39(1)(a)[2]of the Equality Act 2010.
It is necessary, and objectively justifiable for this role to be carried out by an individual of a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BME) background.
The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team are looking for a Community Engagement Officer, to support the Trusts Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, to promote its agenda on creating a diverse workforce and inclusive recruitment programmes.
This role will contribute to this goal by developing and leading the Trust's Engagement Strategy with its BME stakeholders, building mutual awareness and improved engagement.
The Community Engagement Officer will work to strengthen and diversify participation, establishing joint working between the community we serve, BME stakeholders and EEAST.
You will have relevant experience and knowledge of working within the EDI field, alongside good understanding of the current Equality Law.
- pioneering ways to create engagement routeways for our communities.
- lead innovative, collaborative projects to support EEAST's vision of"Outstanding care, exceptional people, every hour of every day".
- Manage and lead the establishment of partnership working between EEAST and BME stakeholders.
- Attend external and community events and undertake engagement with community groups, schools and religious establishments.
We provide 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport in - Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for patients needing non-emergency transport to and from hospital, treatment centres and other similar facilities and who can't travel unaided because of their medical condition or frailty.
Within the east of England, we deliver the patient transport services in Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, north, south and west Essex.
The area is made up of:
- around 6.3 million people
- 7,500 square miles
- 6 ICSs (Intergrated Care Systems)
- 17 acute trusts
