    Senior OTC Markets Lawyer: Investments Team Pension Provider

    The Role :

    • Based in the Investments & Markets Legal Team to provide legal advice and risk management support with respect to the firm's clients in connection with trading activities and related issues (including OTC derivatives (equity and fixed income), repo, custodial relationships, regulatory compliance matters and projects), and more generally, including in relation to investments and corporate/commercial matters.
    • Supervise and support the junior Investments & Markets Lawyer.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Draft, review, negotiate and amend trading documentation of the firm's clients with their counterparties, and interaction with the Operations team on implementation
    • Identify and analyse legal aspects of commercial, legal and regulatory initiatives impacting trading activities of clients
    • Advise on legal aspects of strategic programmes (eg tail-risk and longevity hedging).
    • Provide support on any necessary lobbying, impact assessment and/or implementation activities on proposed regulatory changes impacting trading activities of the firm's clients
    • Provide legal support on planned and ad hoc projects, including client pitches and responses to RFPs
    • Build relationships with the Markets team, as well as other business teams (eg research & solutions, funding & covenant, business development) and other relevant functions, (eg Risk, Compliance, Pensions Legal, Commercial Legal, Operations).
    • Liaise constructively with internal and external stakeholders, including trustees

    Candidate profile:

    • English qualified solicitor with 4-8 + years PQE
    • Technical expertise in derivatives & trading and related financial regulations
    • Ability to analyse potential issues quickly, provide sound, legal advice and develop solutions to complex legal problems
    • An enthusiasm for expanding expertise into new practice areas and supporting organisational change and improvements
    • Strong commercial acumen and transaction management skills
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, with accuracy and attention to detail
    • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
    • Technology literate
    • Trained and worked in private practice or with experience of working in-house within a Financial Institution
    • Experience of working in-house at a buy-side or sell-side financial institution.
