    Default job background
    Description

At Apoha, we are at the forefront of developing the Liquid Brain, a groundbreaking technology that leverages advanced soft materials and intelligent liquids to create dynamic responses to environmental stimuli, both physical and chemical.

This innovation lays the groundwork for a foundational sensory model. Our ambition extends to scaling this liquid substrate technology to achieve computing power on par with the human brain.

We're seeking a highly motivated Automation, Control, Robotics or Firmware Engineer to play a pivotal role in advancing our hardware capabilities.

This position is central to evolving our optofluidic systems from functional prototypes to preproduction and commercial versions.

Within the next 6 months, your primary goal will be to develop a system-level firmware wrapper, complete with documentation and best practices for our thermofluidic control and electronics readout system.

Design and implement control systems, with a focus on automated fluid handling systems akin to 3D printers, or fluid control systems, including multichannel PID controllers for precise temperature and liquid level management.

Work closely with both our software engineering and scientific instrumentation teams to deliver an MVP system that demonstrates robust operations within our premises.

Integrate hardware with software and cloud solutions, improving system efficiency, user experience, and automated error resolution.
Stay updated with IoT and robotics advancements to continually enhance our hardware offerings.
Postgraduate in Biomedical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
Experience with C, C++, .NET, Python, and familiarity with other common firmware development languages.

Demonstrated experience in developing firmware and control systems, ideally with exposure to automated fluid handling systems, 3D printers, as IOTs.

Strong analytical skills, with a proficiency in hardware-software integration.
Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a knack for planning and meeting timelines.
Immediate Focus (6 to 12 Months):
You will take full ownership of the control software and architecture for our first product, focusing on:
Addressing latency issues to maintain consistent experiment performance.
    Long-Term Goals (Beyond 12 Months):

Your fundamental scientific contributions will be crucial in evolving our system into a recommendation engine for materials with desired sensory behaviour, marking the transition of our technology towards a Robot Scientist.

Be at the cutting edge of science and technology, contributing to groundbreaking projects in neuromorphic computing, control theory and embodied AI.

A chance to work closely with our science team as the first hardware-focused hire in our engineering team, offering a unique opportunity to contribute beyond traditional firmware development and applying control theory to physics based systems.

Apoha is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We welcome candidates passionate about driving advancements in hardware engineering and making a tangible impact through their work. Join us in our mission to redefine material science with our groundbreaking Liquid Brain technology.
