    Job overview

    We are looking for a dynamic, keen clinician to join the Oral, OMF Surgery and Orthodontic teams and broaden their clinical experience. The unit provides a comprehensive range of services including oral surgery, orthodontics, cleft, implant rehabilitation, orthognathic surgery and maxillofacial surgery, with the exception of major head and neck oncology. The unit includes a Cone Beam CT scanner and intra-oral scanners.

    Completion of BDS or equivalent is a requirement for this Trust post. All applicants must be registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) or eligible for relevant visa application.

    We hope to hold interviews in the first week of April 2024.

    Main duties of the job

    Clinical Service

    The department is looking to recruit a part time (0.8WTE) Clinical Fellow in Oral and OMF Surgery for a period of twelve months with options to extend for a further twelve months. The department would consider a job share arrangement. The successful candidate(s) will be fully integrated into the departmental clinics and out-patient treatment lists as well as involvement with theatres. There is no on call requirement for this post, but the successful candidate may be eligible to cover any locum first on call sessions that become available.

    Out-patient Department :

    The role will contain routine attendance of new and follow up clinics for Oral & OMFS patient care. There is a wide variety of pathologies treated within the department (cleft, orthognathic, salivary gland, oral medicine etc.) and the opportunity to be present at multi-disciplinary meetings and clinics.

    The successful candidate will perform independent and supervised minor operations under local anaesthesia and may have access to supervised treatments under intravenous sedation.

    Theatre :

    May have access to supervised general anaesthetic lists, including treatment of impacted and ectopic teeth, which provides an excellent opportunity to improve surgical skills
