REED is delighted to support our client who wishes to recruit an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join their team.
As Health & Safety Manager you will provide an effective specialist Health and Safety service across various sites supporting, advising & leading on change health & safety initiativesResponsibilities:
- Contribute to development of a Site Health & Safety Plan & review progress against set objectives
- Provide leadership, guidance & support in all health & safety matters, particularly on complex issues with significant risk
- Monitor, evaluate & develop H&S policies & procedures to ensure compliance with current legislation & best practice
- Participate in project planning & execution to ensure H&S dimension of projects is fully considered at planning stage & changes are planned and implemented
- Liaise with local HSE Executives & Statutory Bodies, building effective working relationships

- Direct the H&S duties undertaken by H&S Trainer
- Ensure adequate provision of first aid & welfare facilities across sites
- Ensure site safety inspections & fire drills are carried out & fire alarms checked
- Manage & draft agenda for monthly H&S meetings & distribute minutes

- Carry out BI monthly audits of sites
- Establish & maintain effective documentation & recording system for all H&S
- Ensure risk assessments, method statements, contractors codes of practice are all up to date & adhered to by employees
- Manage & deliver an effective health & safety induction programme for new personnel
- Liaise with the company solicitors & insurers to defend & advise on ongoing public & employer liability claims
- Ensure H&S training is proactively managed for all employees
- Advise on H&S related matters to management & colleagues
- Focus on workplace safety, ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with safe working procedures, 'control measures' identified via risk assessment & COSHH assessment
- Ensure all accidents or incidents are recorded in detail, reported & all supporting documentation is completed
- Management of Company's utilities including fair safety & regulatory testing, cleaning team & schedule. Repair & maintenance of site
- Issue and control of Permit to Work for Contractors on site
- Maintain site safety noticeboards, including authorised persons for using plant and equipment
- Assist in company plan for fume & ontorch extraction/RPE processes

- Essential Criteria
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health
- Knowledge of NI & UK Health and Safety Legislation
- 2 years' related experience of Health and Safety in Warehousing, Manufacturing, Engineering or Construction
- Demonstrate sound knowledge & understanding of Health and Safety Processes
- Experience of formulating, implementing & revising H&S procedures
- Experience in conducting audits, investigations & root cause analysis
- Experience of handling accident investigations
- Excellent communication & influencing skills
- Strong analytical, organisation & planning skills
- Ability to gather, analyse & report key H&S data/statistics
- Ability to adopt a variety of approaches
- Good IT Skills, inc. Excel, Powerpoint
- Able operate outside core hours as required & travel to other sites
