  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with design and structures teams to define light weight, efficient structures and systems for Airbus A350 XWB program Galleys.
  • Provide weight estimates for monument products, from detail parts through to full galley/monument assemblies
  • Allocate, estimate and manage mass properties requirements, margins and weight growth allowances throughout the entire product lifecycle
  • Verify that the hardware meets requirements and that the mass properties model is an accurate representation of the flight product.
  • Develop weight estimates for proposal and development activities
  • Generate flight product distributed mass profiles (cg and moments of inertia)
  • Assess the impact of change upon weight targets
  • Verify component, subsystem and system mass properties data by interfacing with members of the design, integration, and test team
  • Maintain mass properties records.
  • Working with customer and structures team for development galley solutions which meet aircraft level loading requirements
  • Report on a regular basis against weight targets to both internal and external customers
  • Identify opportunities for weight reduction within the product
  • Produce accurate detailed weight analysis of metal and composite structures in support of original part design, production support, engineering change process or other process as necessary.
  • Undertake self-checking of work produced, and peer-checking of other reports generated within the department.
  • Supports formal design reviews providing technical guidance.
  • Assist in mentoring and training of less experienced members of staff inside and outside of the department.
  • Liaise with other teams, supporting from different locations, to satisfy overflow project demand.
  • Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of weight engineering principles, including weight estimating, weight control, and weight reporting.
  • Proficiency in using weight engineering software such as CATIA.
  • Experience in weight engineering for aerospace or automotive industries is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, as well as communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and processes in the weight engineering field
  • Able to convey technical requirements and constraints to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills
  • Good team working and work ethic
  • Beneficial possession of CAA and/or M1020 delegated signatory and/or CVE status or equivalent
