Procurement Specialist - Skelmersdale, United Kingdom - AIS
Description
We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to join our Operations Team. The role will be based at our site on Stanley Way, Skelmersdale.Responsibilities:
- Ensuring adherence to all company policies and prevailing business regulations
- Supporting Supply Chain Project Managers and any other budget holder with lead time, technical and costing inquiries
- Seeking out the most efficient source of supply in line with Supply Chain and Business requirements.
- Ensuring that the supply base is tuned in with our long term vision and objectives and can provide the innovation and flexibility our customers demand
Main Duties:
- Provide timely, costing and lead time information for goods and services to internal stakeholders within TO and TAB within an area of individual specialization.
- Ensure that our Terms and Conditions of Purchase are used in all contracts for supply.
- Specifically maintain or improve our Terms of Payment in line with ongoing business requirements.
- Establish Contracts of Supply and Pricing Agreements where applicable.
- Maintain all relevant cost and lead time information required for all major business processes.
- Source and evaluate new suppliers where required and as part of our continuous improvement philosophy
- Provide the Purchasing Supervisor and Regional Supply Chain Manager with performance reports on a when required basis
- Attending all company meetings requiring procurement input within your category specialism
- Chairing Key Supplier Meetings
- Other appropriate activities as defined by supply chain management
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Communicate effectively at all levels of the business
- Be a champion for procurement and related processes with the organization
- Leverage group spends and achieve the lowest Total Acquisition Cost
- Develop and guide suppliers within a specific category of spend ,towards providing added value processes, products and services
- Negotiate with A, B or C class suppliers, on your own or as part of a team
Education:
- Degree level in a business, engineering or an equivalent discipline preferred
- Certification in APICS preferred
Experience of:
- Working within a Procurement environment
- Working with numbers and at times, high levels of technical detail
- Proficiency with MS Word, and MS Excel
- Team based problem solving
- Chairmanship and Presentation based environments
