    Healthy Lifestyle Advisor - Sandwell, West Midlands

    Hours: 37.5 hours per week, including evening work

    ABL Health, delivers the Sandwell's Adult Weight Management Service overview, which is commissioned by the Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council. This transformative service seeks to work collaboratively with communities to support transforming services for the local population. The service provides integrated behaviour support for weight management in partnership with Sandwell's smoking cessation service. Both services are embedded in sustainable behaviour change and positive wellbeing.

    You will deliver our existing programmes of weight management as well as support the development of programmes that meet the needs of our clients. The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles and delivering client-centred motivational change. You will have a background in nutrition, exercise, health improvement, adult and/or family weight management and be an excellent team player and have a willingness to learn and develop.

    At ABL Health, we don't believe in diets but promote long-term sustainable change, focusing on evidence-based healthy living principles.

    Some of the essential criteria for the role:

    • Educated to degree level or relevant equivalent experience.
    • Experience of delivering groups and/or one-to-one behaviour change
    • Experience of delivering health promotion / public health interventions in community settings
    • CIMSPA (previously REPS) qualified Level 2 Gym instructor/Group exercise award or equivalent
    • Registration with CIMSPA (this can be obtained within 6 months of employment).
    • Previous paid or voluntary experience working with people.
    • Experience of building professional relationships
    • IT literate, preferably with experience using Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
    • Pro-active approach and ability to work on own initiative.
    • Ability to manage stressful situations and cope in a fast-paced work environment.
    • The ability to travel independently across Sandwell.
    • Work flexibly and adapt to suit service need including evening and occasional weekend work as required.
