    Job Description

    We are looking for a Solution Architect to join our Group Protection Technology team.

    You'll be designing and creating the architecture for the Group Protection business at L&G. You'll improve our ability to gain full value from cloud services, modern application design and technology, and ensuring that we do so securely and in line with regulatory requirements. In addition to this you'll also play a key role in defining, maintaining, and communicating our technology strategy and roadmaps to achieve our business goals.

    What you'll be doing
    • System Design and Planning - Defining and documenting software architecture, including high-level structure, components, integrations and technologies to be used. Plan for the appropriate levels of scalability, performance and security.
    • Technology Selection - Evaluating and recommending appropriate technologies, frameworks and tools for current and future projects considering the needs and constraints of the organisation.
    • Governance and Compliance - Contributing to the definition of appropriate governance processes and framework for the department. Ensure that the software development process includes and aligns with industry standards, legal requirements and organisational policies.
    • Technical Leadership - Providing technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, helping them understand and implement architectural principles.
    • Cost Optimisation - Identifying opportunities to optimise infrastructure and resource costs while maintaining an appropriate level of system performance and reliability.
    • Strategic analysis, advice, and innovation - Working with different members of the engineering and architecture community to ensure effective use of our technology in line with service adoption, governance, and best practice.
    Qualifications
    • Ideally, good knowledge of Microsoft Azure gained from several years of experience working in a sizable Azure environment.
    • Experience with design and development from business requirements analysis through to change delivery.
    • Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, SOA, API, open data, micro services, event driven IT and predictive analytics and business intelligence/analytics.
    • Wide experience across network, applications, data, and infrastructure domains
    • Experience of software development methodologies and structured approaches to system development
    • Strong background in software engineering.
