    The Opportunity

    We are seeking a Platform Manager to join our Nuclear Operations IT Service team. In this multifaceted role, you will be at the forefront of shaping our technology landscape, ensuring seamless operations across both on-premises and cloud platforms.     This offers an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team and whilst Nuclear Operations experience is great, anyone with exposure to environments requiring high level security, strict procedural adherence and high-quality standards would be equally well received.

    This role will be based at one of our many UK locations with remote/hybrid working being an essential part. Travel will also be required on occasion.

    Pay, benefits and culture

    We can offer a competitive salary between £71,101 - £98,004 and you will be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

    What You Will Be Doing

    As our Platform Manager, you will provide leadership and direction to a new team bridging the gap between traditional on-premise systems and cutting-edge cloud solutions. We are looking for individuals with experience in:

    Platform Strategy and Governance:

    • Developing and delivering platform strategy aligned to business objectives.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards, security protocols, and our own governance and best practices.

    Hybrid Platform Management:

    • Evaluation and implementation of suitable technology platforms that seamlessly integrate on-premise infrastructure with cloud services.
    • Supporting the migration of legacy on-premise systems to the cloud whilst maintaining stability and performance.

    Third Party Collaboration:

    • Engage with partners and our wider business to ensure quality, monitor service levels, and drive continuous improvement.
    • Foster strong relationships with cloud service providers and on-premise solution partners.

    Team Leadership and Development:

    • Lead a team of platform specialists, providing mentorship and guidance.
    • Cultivate a collaborative work environment that encourages innovation and knowledge sharing.

    Performance Optimisation:

    • Monitor platform performance across our environments.
    • Identify bottlenecks, optimise resource utilisation, and enhance system reliability.

    Change Management:

    • Drive change initiatives related to platform upgrades, migrations, and enhancements.
    • Ensure smooth transitions for end-users during technology shifts.

    Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architecture, application development, data and information, quality assurance and business units.
    • Align platform initiatives with organisational goals and foster strong partnerships.

    Who you are

    As our ideal candidate, you possess the following qualifications and attributes:

    Qualifications:

    • HNC or higher in a computing or equivalent scientific/technical subject.

    Experienced IT Professional:

      • You have a proven track record in managing IT platforms, both on-premise and in the cloud.
      • Familiarity with hybrid environments and the ability to navigate complexities.

    Strategic Thinker:

      • You can envision long-term platform roadmaps and translate them into actionable plans.
      • Balancing legacy systems with modern cloud solutions excites you.

    Collaborative Communicator:

      • You excel at building relationships, communicating complex ideas, and influencing stakeholders.
      • Bridging the gap between technical teams and business units is second nature to you.

    Problem Solver:

      • You thrive on identifying challenges and finding innovative solutions.
      • Whether it's optimizing resource allocation or resolving technical issues, you're up for the task.

    Technical Acumen:

      • You understand cloud technologies (preferably Azure) including migration from and integration with on-premises systems.
      • Familiarity with APIs, security protocols, and scalability.

    Leadership Skills:

      • You inspire and motivate your team to achieve exceptional results.
      • Your ability to lead through change is commendable.

    To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for the last 5 years.
