Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Project Manager on behalf of one of our clients.
Responsible for management of telecoms infrastructure installation, including civils, cabling, splicing and testing.

Co-ordinating with directly employed supervising teams, planners and street works co-ordinators, to ensure that operational programme and financialtargets and deadlines are met and that the works and services are implemented in accordance with the contract requirements.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the safe running of (allocated) sites and monitor the implementation and control of safe working procedures.
  • Understand and be able to develop and maintain the Construction Phase Plan.
  • Accountable for works associated with compliance to company obligations relating to Health & Safety and Environment, Quality Assurance and IIP (Investors in people).
  • Ensure that depots/sites are maintained to standards in accordance with Waste Management Licences, Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Regulations and Leases arrangements.
  • To ensure safe working practices, as outlined in Specific Method Statements and Risk Assessments are adhered to both personally and by others.
  • To ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure that training matrices are up to date for inhouse and subcontractor staff and all the relevant training is booked.
  • Accountable for implementation and management of sound and operational practices.
  • Development and growth of the contract.
  • Ensure that the build team, planning team and commercial team on site are working collaboratively and following set processes and divisional framework.
  • To resolve emergency situations as required by the company / contract procedures and obligations.
  • To ensure all clients' needs are met whilst ensuring all operational aspects of the contract are successfully managed.
  • Liaising with clients and ensuring their satisfaction.
  • Responsible for development of all field operational staff.
  • Own relationship with subcontractors and select new subcontractors as required.
  • Ownership and detailed knowledge of the current programme.
  • Ensure that the programme is up to date at all times and deliverable by the build team.
  • Responsible for the alignment of programme and resources to ensure that work package handover dates are achieved.
  • Submission of relevant delivery and status update reports on weekly and monthly basis as per divisional process (framework).
  • Regularly update project action tracker and risk register.
  • Through liaison with the Support staff from head office.
  • Ownership of project commercial forecast.
  • Minimising costs of works through correct programming and utilisation of labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.
  • Understand and present CVRs alongside the Project QS.
  • Ensure that all the relevant EWNs and CEs are captured appropriately and dealt with.
  • Use every opportunity to increase the regional revenue/margin.

Skills and Qualifications:


  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in FTTH, FTTP, Metro, Fibre Network, Telecoms or utilities build Management.
  • SMSTS card holder and understanding of the New Roads & Streetworks Act 1991(NRSWA).
  • Proven technical and project management abilities.
  • Relevant Fibre and Telecoms training to current standards.
  • Business Strategy / awareness.
  • Strong organisational and management skills.
  • Knowledge of the requirements and implementation of CDM regulations.
  • Ability to produce Work Package Plans, Task Briefing Sheets and implement safe systems of work.
  • Detailed knowledge of Safety, Quality and Environmental issues relevant to the project environment.
  • Understanding of cost and value.
  • Understanding of programming.
  • Ability to use initiative.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Good standard of English.
