    Job summary

    Are you a dynamic leader who can effectively lead a team of Peri-operative Practitioners to deliver high class quality care within the Clatterbridge theatres?

    The Directorate of Peri-operative Medicine is seeking to recruit an experienced Perioperative Practitioner to join the leadership team at Clatterbridge. You will be instrumental in delivering quality and activity for Chronic pain, Urology, General Surgery and Breast surgery.

    The Clatterbridge theatres are GIRFT accredited and was nominated recently for a HSJ award for collaboration with The Countess of Chester Hospital as part of the Cheshire and Mersey collaborative.

    In 2023 we built four new state of the art theatres, recovery, staff rest room and Surgical Admissions Unit. The new theatres are a pleasure to work in with large anaesthetic rooms, operating theatres and prep rooms. This supports the well being of staff as they are working in a new and spacious area, which they developed.

    The four new theatres are an addition to the six theatres already on the site (five orthopaedic and five General Surgery/Urology/Breast).

    Main duties of the job

    With responsibility for the day to day management of workforce, clinical specialism and patient flow, you will lead change in the department supporting the perioperative improvement programme.

    The potential post holder will report directly to the Perioperative Matron, linking with the ADN of Perioperative Medicine forgingclose partnerships with other senior leaders in both the directorate and Surgical division.

    The post holder will provide strong leadership, and be a visible, credible senior presence, be accessible to staff patients and families where required.

    As successful candidate you will be responsible and accountable for safety, quality and workforce within your team working collaboratively with wider teams to deliver the highest quality care to patients.

    This post is open to both NMC registered Nurses and HCPC registered Operating Department Practitioners.

    We are looking for a highly motived, passionate health care professional who possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills, the ability to motivate and negotiate and is passionate about perioperative care.

    Job responsibilities

    Working as part of the leadership team you will be responsible for:

  • Day to day operational leadership of operating theatres ensuring productivity and efficiencies whilst maintaining a safe and quality service.
  • Provide support, empowerment and guidance to theatre teams in providing care.
  • Provide Human resource management to theatre teams.
  • Identify areas for development within the current service provision.
  • Support appropriate use of theatre space through theatre scheduling andbookings to sessions.
  • Engage with the wider user groups to ensure safe delivery of services.
  • Support key agenda items including audit, SOP development and IPC compliance.

    Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

    Essential

  • Registered Nurse or ODP with current NMC/HCPC registration
  • Post Graduate degree in health care subject (or working towards)
  • Teaching and Assessing Qualification in health care
  • IT skills including Office applications and health care databases
