Description

Pulsant is a hybrid cloud specialist and the creator of the UK's edge computing platform - providing access to secure and scalable cloud and colocation solutions to businesses in every region of the UK.


We have 12 Data centres spread around the UK - and an exciting new role has arisen - to provide leadership and management to managers within the SE region.

Your role will be ensuring they are equipped with the right tools and skills in order to deliver the highest level of availability and performance from the DC infrastructure investments made by Pulsant.


You will take responsibility for the overall operation of both the mechanical and electrical engineering and data centre operations across multiple sites within region in terms of people management, development and implementation of systems, processes and procedures, governance, and maintenance of the DCs so as to deliver a high-quality service which will meet or exceed clients' expectations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a role model demonstrating the values and behaviours needed to support the development of a single integrated culture
  • Provide management support to all direct reports to ensure they are clear of what is expected of them, and that effective performance management is implemented throughout the team
  • Provide guidance, support, training, and coaching to and put in place development plans to ensure that all employees in own team are focused on continuous improvement
  • Lead all project works undertaken within region & operate as the point of contact for all major capital expenditure activities
  • Work with managers in own region to ensure that you are aware of any ongoing maintenance or issues and provide support where needed. Carry out spot checks to ensure the correct documentation is in place for works on site
  • Work with managers in own region to ensure all Planned Preventative Maintenance is carried out on time and within budget

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience of leading data centre critical facility services across multiple sites in the UK or abroad
  • Experience of managing people at a senior level in a customer facing technical operations environment, ideally in the colocation industry
  • Experience of defining and driving improvements and Key Performance Indicators for DC availability and capacity
  • Technical knowledge of data centres and industry best practice
  • Ownership of managing multimillionpound Capex & Opex budgets effectively and maximizing value for spend
  • Industry best practice for data centre services
  • Solid technical understanding of data centre M&E infrastructure
  • Indepth knowledge of the UK regulatory regime relevant to the data centre industry particularly around CCA, CRC, CMC, H&S legislation, ISO 27001 and 14000.
