    Length of Contract - 6 Months

    Our client are a leading UK utilities company who are looking for experienced Connection Engineers on a contract basis.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead the development and costing for several customer connection investments up to the point that an initial proposal has been developed and an investment driver has been established.
    • Develop a range of costed delivery programme options for each project to discuss with the customer to ensure best fit and solution with their requirements.
    • Drive customer and stakeholder satisfaction through positive engagement and work pro-actively to resolve issues in a timely manner.
    • Responsible for various trigger points in respect of the Quality of Connections Incentive, which will generate customer feedback. Once received, taking direct ownership for acting on that feedback.
    • Working closely with the Customer Account Managers, responsible for ensuring that our technical position aligns with our commercial position.
    • Lead the investment process for a portfolio of customer investments during the option selection phase of the Network Development Process
    • Appoint and lead the scheme team, actively managing key stakeholders to ensure their timely input and agreement to the selection and development of investments, pursuant to timely approvals.
    • Develop the least cost, optimal, efficient and safe solution in line with CDM Regulations and SHESQ considerations. Document all residual design issues, CDM issues, hazards and risks.
    • Undertake the required site and condition assessments, and support the consenting, type registration, cost estimation, programme risk mitigation and innovation activities to enable the delivery vehicle to implement the solution on site.
    • Produce all required project documentation, ensuring governance is maintained throughout the investment process whilst also demonstrating the implementation of lessons learned and best practice.
    • Assess the need for Front End Engineering Design (FEED) support and where required, appoint and lead the FEED contractor in their activities. Monitor and control the FEED budget and resolve any contractual issues in a timely manner.
    • Monitor and control the investment throughout the investment process and provide competent, accurate and timely financial forecasting information to support regulatory reporting, and business and capital planning.
    • Enact the role of Client's Delegated Representative and where appropriate, Principle Designer.
    • Maintain full authorisation to carry out duties.
    • Mentor Assistant Connection Engineers within the team.

    Knowledge, Experience and Technical Know-How:

    • A customer-centric approach to delivering a high-quality output

    • Proficient business writing and communication skills.
    • Demonstrable experience of problem solving and an appetite for continuous improvement
    • Good influencing and negotiating skills
    • Proficient understanding and demonstrable working knowledge of business processes and governance.

    Technical or Specialist:

    • Project management skills including management of time, cost, safety and risk.
    • Proficient technical knowledge of the Electricity Transmission System and the primary assets
    • Knowledge of business processes and governance.
    • Understanding of RIIO mechanisms.
    • Working knowledge and application of CDM
    • Working knowledge of Safety and Environmental legislation, practices and policies.
    • Proficient in Contract Management and demonstrated Commercial acumen
