    Description

    Overall Purpose of the Role

    The role holder will assist the Faculty team of Health, Safety and Compliance Advisors in providing high quality advice, support and oversight of the day-to-day management of health and safety within the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE). They will support health and safety communication, advise staff and students on health and safety issues, promote a culture of best practice, help to deliver health and safety objectives and help to monitor compliance with relevant University health and safety policies.

    Area of work will be determined by the Faculty Safety, Compliance and Risk Manager and the relevant Health, Safety and Compliance Advisors, to accommodate the requirements of each area. The post holder will be expected to share their knowledge, skills and best practices to assist different areas during periods of peak workload and provide cross-Faculty coverage for absences. This will include the new Manchester Engineering Campus Development (MECD), School of Natural Sciences, School of Engineering and several research institutes.

    Key Relationships

    The post holder will be part of the Faculty's Safety Team. The role requires good communication and interpersonal skills to utilise effective relationships across the Faculty and with the wider University communities. Key relationships will include:

    Internal: MECD stakeholders, academic staff; students, Health, Safety and Compliance Advisors; Technical Operations Managers, technical support staff; Safety Services; Estates and Facilities and relevant staff across the University.

    External: Third party contractors; visitors and professional bodies that provides training

    Please note, under the new immigration rules this role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route of the Points Based System. Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK in order to be eligible to take up the post.
