Head of Enterprise Planning

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Head of Enterprise Planning to join the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) working from either London or Manchester, minimum 8 days in the office a month and reporting in to the Director of Enterprise Portfolio Management.

Smart DCC needs to ensure that its product and change portfolio is delivered effectively and efficiently.

As a result a new EPMO capability is being established to plan, monitor, assure and report on delivery of all initiatives across the business.

The EPMO additionally provides the objective 'single source of truth' view of delivery performance for the portfolio and leads the management / resolution of cross-programme risks, issues and points of contention to maximise effectiveness of change implementation.


The Head of Enterprise Planning is a new role in the organisation, this senior leadership position will be required to work with ExCo and SLT to define the single source of truth Enterprise Plan that aligns to the strategy.

What will you be doing?

  • Engage with ExCo members and other internal senior leadership stakeholders to define the single source of truth Enterprise Plan that reflects our product / service, enabling technology and organisational capability strategies
  • Define the organisational capability maturity states and provide clarity on the projects / programmes / initiatives required for the business to achieve those transition state targets aligned to DCC's strategy
  • Oversee the mapping of dependencies between initiatives in the plan to enable effective impact assessments when delivery timelines change
  • Lead all aspects of pipeline and Front Door management for all initiatives
  • Lead the Design, development and embedding of the second lineofdefence delivery assurance capability to ensure that initiatives are delivering to time, quality and cost
  • Lead the identification of delivery issues / points of contention in the plan to facilitate analysis and recommendations to resolve
  • Oversee delivery of the 4 Corporate Reports that represent the business to stakeholders and the market
  • Lead the mentoring, coaching and training of EPMO and project team members and direct reports
What are we looking for?

  • Significant experience of enterprise and programme planning in a complex, fastpaced, technology change environment. This will necessitate having undertaken a similar role in a number of previous organisations
  • Significant experience of project / programme management and the constituent elements. This includes pipeline and Front Door management


  • Change Management

  • The ability to influence, shape and drive improvement initiatives in fastpaced and complex, ideally regulated, environments with multiple internal and external stakeholder groups


  • Stakeholder Management

  • Ability to manage a complex set of stakeholder interactions, and resolve conflicting priorities if required
  • Significant experience of designing, implementing and leading a delivery assurance and / or audit capability


  • Effective Communication

  • This individuals needs gravitas given the seniority of the role and the associated change needing to be delivered in this capability space. This person needs to be able to understand complex technical information that is presented to them and make smart decisions
