About Us
Our team at Hammonds Residential Home are looking for two Casual Senior Support Workers. At Hammonds we provide specialist care for up to 20 residents.

We can support a range of needs and specialise in areas such as Dementia, Younger Adults, Sensory Impairment (to name only a few).

About The Job Salary**:
£16.48 to £18.07 per hour (includes annual leave entitlement)

Working Pattern:
Monday - Friday (29 hours per week) Flexible shift patterns

You will be providing outcome-based care and enabling our residents to maintain or improve skills of daily living, support the manager in the day-to-day management of the service, assuming responsibility for designated areas of work and supporting staff in encouraging service users to achieve their outcomes.

Your role will require you to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, if necessary, to meet the needs of the service.

You'll also be required to sleep-in-on-call on a rota basis. You may also be asked to escort people on holiday. The work involves maintaining a daily caring relationship with service users that have mental and physical needs.


Experience and Skills

Key Skills:


  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills in to monitor budgets and document activities in care plans.
  • Ability to organise/prioritise work, coordinate a variety of tasks in a clear and logical way and meet agreed deadlines which minimise the disruption to the business.
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a range of people and create effective working relationships.
  • Effective people and performance management skills and the ability to provide direction and motivate and inspire the team.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to seek and introduce continuous improvement and innovation, for self and team. Ability to maintain a sympathetic and understanding attitude whilst dealing with challenging behaviour from service users and/or their families.

Qualifications and experience:


  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs, including English Language and Maths, or equivalent qualification or demonstrable equivalent comparable experience.
  • NVQ 3 in Care or equivalent qualification or demonstrable equivalent comparable experience.
  • Relevant organisational knowledge of systems, procedures and policies in specialist area e.g. protection of vulnerable adults, health and safety etc.
  • Significant experience of working with adults who have a wide range of disabilities.
  • Experience of involving service users and carers in planning, developing and evaluating services.
