Principal Purpose of Position:

The core responsibilities of the role are to ensure costs are managed effectively, vehicle availability is maximised, and customers are provided with exceptional service


This primarily involves:


managing authorisation requests promptly and efficiently, validating work is necessary and correct pricing and labour times are applied, challenging vendors appropriately and highly accurate input of all appropriate information into Holman systems to the extent determined by the business.

Controlling downtime effectively, conducting quality work progression activity and updating systems clearly and accurately.

Engaging with customers appropriately in relation to authorisation activities and determining the most cost effective solutions, and ensuring customers are updated appropriately on work progress.


Education and/or Training:

Technical vehicle related qualifications such as City & Guilds or equivalent
Demonstrable, detailed knowledge of motor vehicle mechanics, preferably extending to include HGV and ancillary equipment fitted to vehicles
Qualifications or good knowledge around vehicle compliance requirements and full appreciation of the necessity of vehicles and equipment being compliant


Relevant Work Experience:

Experience in a workshop environment or similar
Experience working within a team in an office environment


Planning/Organizing/Managerial Knowledge:

Demonstrable analytical and problem solving abilities
Ability to multi task with consistency and accuracy
Highly organised, able to manage a variety of work-streams effectively
Ability to work efficiently in a structured, methodical manner
Have strong administration skills, with an ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
Collaborative, proactive and dynamic approach
Committed to finding solutions, with ability to use initiative and common sense


Communicating & Influencing Skills:

To respond to and manage authorisation requests promptly and efficiently, validating work is necessary and correct pricing and labour times are applied, challenging vendors appropriately.

Ensure work is itemised properly and correct codes are used, and clear, concise explanatory notes are added where necessary, referring to colleagues as required to ensure correct decisions are made.

Adhere to all procedures relating to work authorisation, notifying customers as required with clear information to enable an informed decision to be made.

Control downtime of vehicles and assets effectively through conducting quality work progression activity, updating information on progress clearly and accurately.

Deliver an efficient, courteous and high quality service to customers at all times.
Conduct all communications with suppliers professionally and cordially, escalating issues through defined routes when necessary.
